Off The Course

Our athletes don't just spend all their time training and racing.  Each balances a busy schedule of working, family time, training and racing.  Here is what they do off the course when not crawling, climbing and swinging off of obstacles.

Male Athletes

Ashton Abraham is currently an operating room Registered Nurse, where he enjoys helping others and taking care of patients. However, that's not enough for him, he is currently working on his Doctorate in Mental Health. His goal is to break the stigma related to mental health along with dvocating for alternative therapies such as exercise, meditation, and other non pharmaceutical to help assist with treatment. Outside of OCR he enjoys any sport with a board ( Skim, Surf, Skate, Wake, Longboard, Snowboarding) and spends most of his free time with his four year old daughter.

Thomas Plush spent the last 5 years as a Nurse in a Maximum Security Prison. Recently he took a position as a Nurse Supervisor working in a Home Health Plus and manages two houses that specialize in Dementia. He is also a volunteer firefighter in Butler County. Outside of OCR he enjoys building obstacles, watching football, playing yard games with friends and working in his shop on off road toys at their little farm house that he shares with his wife Macy and baby Beau.

Evan Perperis spends his days as an active duty member of the US Military. With 44 cumulative months in combat zones, mostly Iraq, he stays busy between training, racing and traveling. He is also the owner and founder of the website Strength & Speed. His autobiography "Ultra-OCR Man: From Special Forces Soldier to Record Setting Professional Obstacle Course Racer" is now available in the Pro Shop, digital off Amazon and on audio-book from Audible.

Although his primary source of income is repairing the interior of cars, Kendall Ortez's passion job is coaching at Gauntlet Fitness and working with Overcoming Obstacle Ministries (OOM). OOM shares the gospel with kids through the medium of ninja training. Kendall not only teaches valuable life skills like perseverance and persistence but also values from Christianity that helps make the next generation better people.

Female Athletes

Miranda Huber is a part time Aeronautical Engineer working on the Lockheed Martin F-35 program and a full time mother. When Miranda isn't working or jogging with her 3 year old in the stroller, she's finding fun activities to keep her daughter excited and enjoying time outdoors.

Jenny Overstreet is a fitness director of RoKC Inc. a KC based climbing gym, where she is busy teaching classes most days. Add that to more than five years of training and certification including: Certified Personal Trainer through NASM, CrossFit Level 1 Certified and is Precision Nutrition Level 1 Certified. When not doing something that revolves around fitness, she is spending time with her two young boys.


Vivien Tran’s alter-ego delves into strategy, risk management, and regulatory analysis as an Environmental Scientist in the mining / chemical industry. Her roles in the office and field supports American manufacturing while being protective of air and water quality.

When Vivien isn't racing, she's diligently training on the roads, track, and trails of North Dallas, (and during her travels for work!), as well as anything Reinforced Running prepares for her various workouts. Vivien has two cats and enjoys playing the piano, traveling, eating, cooking, and snowboarding (when she can).
